Jerusalem 5000
Jerusalem 5000 is a project that aims to publish a reference book on Jerusalem in history from antiquity until the year 635 C.E. as a first stage to be followed by volumes with an outline that comprises the modern times. The Institute has prepared the scientific material of the first volume which comprised nineteen research papers covering the first period written by nineteen non-Arab scholars in addition to preparing a corpus of Jerusalem inscriptions which is currently being undertaken by a specialist Professor Dr. Umar al-Ghul of Yarmuk University. He exhausted all the documented inscriptions, particularly those containing curses and the Tel El-Amarna letters.
The stage of soliciting writers for this project has concluded, and the research papers are currently under revision and being prepared for publication in cooperation with the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs.
